Mandatory Rest
Next Monday, July 1, 2024 will be the date on which the new president of Panama will be sworn in.
As stated in Article 46 of the Labor Code, it will be a mandatory day of rest nationwide.
As a result, workers are not required to work that day and will still receive their salary.
Form of Payment
Workers who work on July 1, 2024 will be entitled to the payment of their salary and will also be paid a 150% hourly surcharge.
In addition to the surcharge, you will be entitled to another day off during the week.
In the event that the company does not grant the compensatory day, it will have to pay a surcharge of 50% per hour.
If the employee works during the day that was assigned as a compensatory day, he/she will receive a surcharge of 50% per hour.
Transfer of Rest
Workers who have been assigned Monday, July 1 as their mandatory weekly rest day shall be entitled to be granted any other day of the corresponding week as compensation, as determined by Article 47 of the Labor Code.
